It's a bear!

It was Corporate Day at the Bronx Zoo. So I invited Katie and Maggie to join be there.
I thought I would slip into museum syndrom, where I get really tired, but It was really cool to see all the animals.

Winner!

Every morning when I get into work I sign up for the Virtual Ticketing for Shakespeare in the Park. It's a raffel system for couple seats for that nights performance. I've been doing this for about a month now, ever since Ali won them on HER FIRST TRY.
Well I'm proud to say I won.

It was a pretty good show, I grabbed a $5 dollar footlong before hand, gah. I hate eating at chain restaurants while in the city, I would rather eat something local. But it was cheap!
I was napping outside the theatre before the play waiting for katie to get there. It was really nice out, until a violinists decides I need to wake up and played right in front of me. I think he got the picture that I was trying to sleep when I rolled away from him.

Lazy Sunday

Maggie invited me to another Lincoln Center Show called A Disappearing Number. I saw the play on their website while looking up the other show she invited me too and was intrigued.
The play intertwined two stories, Ramanujan, a famous mathematician, and a math professor and her husband.
The play started off with some good math, and then started a story line about the two main characters life. The play was painfully slow, where the lighting only kept my interest. An intermission would of been much appreciated.

After the show I went for a run with Willi in Central Park.
As a recovery meal I went to Shake Shack with Jamie and Sarah. First time having the shroom burger and it was great!

Ratatat

Willi and I decided to venture to MOMA P.S. 1 to try to catch one of the Warm Up concerts. Rajib told me about how Ratatat was playing this evening. We went to Queens and realized that it was going to cost $15 with our student ID's. We decided to just walk back over the Queensboro bridge (image above).

I then went over to Javed's roof with Rajib and Kavitha. What a nice night.

The View is Wonderful Up Here

I met up with Jayme and her family visiting from Houston at the The View in the Time Square Marriott. I knew about the hotel because on my recruiting trip we took the glass elevators to the 45th floor. But I did not know about the restaurant.

Its a 360 degree floor circling the hotel. The whole platter rotates around the building. So by the time you're done with your meal you have been the whole way around.

The waiter we had was great giving us free cover and bottled water. When we were spinning by the desert bar, Jayme's sister couldn't resist and grabbed a plate and started dipping strawberries and marshmallows in the chocolate fountain. We tried to hide the plate under the table, but our waiter caught us. But played it off the best way and told us we could have some desert.

After the View closed at 1, we went to Dorrians in the Upper East Side. Where Sarah's boyfriend got us in the back door. There was a old Yankees baseball player having a few drinks there. The music was old school with some country.

Restraunt week

Photo: Hannah Whitaker/New York Magazine

It's Restaurant week in the Big Apple, me and my cowoker Alexis decided to take our lunch and go to La Fonda Del Sol. It serves spanish style food and is located in the MetLife building. Very nice place, the food was good and it was nice to take an hour lunch for once.

Maggie got Katie and me box tickets to "Fondly Do We hope..." choreographed by Bill T. Jones, who also choreographed Fela!
It was in the Rose, which is the 6th floor of the Time Warner building in Columbus circle.
It started out with a loud noise, like an airplane flying by and then it's completely dark. I guess thats one way to get the audience to be quiet. The whole dance is a remembrance of past debates and how the way we live doesn't change, we still argue over things, we still kill each other, we still love and die. They had this screen curtain around the center stage where projections of shadows and words were shown to enhance the experience. I loved the 5 man orchestra, they did a fantastic job leveraging all the instruments and voices.

We then picnicked on Lincoln Center's new Illumination Lawn. Some more bread/ turkey / hummus. mmm
