Photo: Hannah Whitaker/New York MagazineIt's Restaurant week in the Big Apple, me and my cowoker Alexis decided to take our lunch and go to La Fonda Del Sol. It serves spanish style food and is located in the MetLife building. Very nice place, the food was good and it was nice to take an hour lunch for once.
Maggie got Katie and me box tickets to "Fondly Do We hope..." choreographed by Bill T. Jones, who also choreographed Fela!
It was in the Rose, which is the 6th floor of the Time Warner building in Columbus circle.
It started out with a loud noise, like an airplane flying by and then it's completely dark. I guess thats one way to get the audience to be quiet. The whole dance is a remembrance of past debates and how the way we live doesn't change, we still argue over things, we still kill each other, we still love and die. They had this screen curtain around the center stage where projections of shadows and words were shown to enhance the experience. I loved the 5 man orchestra, they did a fantastic job leveraging all the instruments and voices.
